Danielewicz homers in sixth straight game as Angels win a pair

Luke Danielewicz continued to pound the ball, going 3-for-3 and hitting a home run for the sixth consecutive game to power the Placer Sierra Bank Angels past the Auburn 20/30 Club Cubs 13-2.
Jesse Danielewicz added a double for the Angels.
Adam Fry, Steven French and Daniel List each had two singles for the Cubs.
Angels 13, Union Bank Cardinals 0 — Luke Danielewicz pounded two home runs on his birthday, knocking in four runs Wednesday for the Angels. Henry Godsey also had a homer.
Russ McClendon led the Cardinals, going 3-for-4.
Cubs 5, Nation’s Rent A’s 2 — Steven French had a single and two RBIs to lead the Cubs’ attack on Thursday. Nathan Van Riper and Jessica Lockhart each added one RBI and Adam Fry had two hits for the Cubs. Chris Bednorski had a single.
The A’s got a single and a double from Max Stapenhorst. Spencer Zaputil and Chris Bendana had singles.
Edgewood Veterinary Clinic Yankees 3, Elks Lodge No. 1691 Pirates 2 — The Yankees won the pitching duel, getting the winning run in the top of the sixth inning. Jeff Mason pitched four-plus innings and gave up two hits before giving way to Travis Wright, who closed out the game.
Mason went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Wright went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Ryan Miller went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Nathan Johnston went 1-for-2.
Andrew Tuller kept the Yankees scoreless for four innings, striking out six for the Pirates. Austin Maynard pitched the final two innings. Tuller and Chris Cox had the Pirates’ only hits.
Yankees 3, Braves 3 — The two teams battled to a tie after seven innings Saturday night, as the Yankees rallied for three runs in the top of the sixth to knot the game up.
Adam Reed struck out nine in 5-1/3 innings of work for the Braves. Cliff Meyers entered in the sixth and pitched the rest of the way, striking out four. Reed also had a double and scored a run, while Cameron Gibson singled and scored.
For the Yankees, Mike Kuchenthal pitched four strong innings, striking out eight and surrendering one hit. Kuchenthal was also 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
Travis Wright pitched the fifth and sixth, striking out four and Jeff Mason pitched a scoreless seventh inning. Wright had a single, Mason went 2-for-3 with a double and Ryan Mather had a triple and an RBI. Wade Andrews went 1-for-3 with a double.
Auburn Journal Indians 8, A’s 2 — Steven Beck’s 2-run home run highlighted a five-run third inning for the Indians as they got past the A’s on Saturday. Matt Rice, Harrison Penrose and Jason Pendergraft had singles for the Indians while Kevin Healy had a double.
Max Stapenhorst went 2-for-3 with a double to pace the A’s. Justin Schuster went 1-for-3 and Ben Elkin was 1-for-1 with a double.
Cardinals 11, Pirates 3 — The Cardinals’ offense was hitting on all cylinders Saturday as the Pirates could not keep up.
Scott Ball went 2-for-4 with a homer to lead the Cardinals. Russ McClendon went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, Jarred Glenn went 3-for-5, Dillon Powers went 2-for-4 with a double and Keith Culley and Brandon Roskelley each went 2-for-2.
The Pirates’ Andrew Tuller was 2-for-2 with three RBIs to carry the offense. Chad Sheppard went 1-for-2 with a double and two runs scored and Chris Cox went 1-for-2. |
