Colfax Mariners come back big

The Colfax Mariners scored nine runs in the top of the fifth inning to take the lead for good in a wild 12-11 comeback victory over the Auburn Cardinals in last week’s Little League Junior Division baseball action for ages 13-14.

Dustin Norcross and Lyell Marks each had a single and two RBIs and Jim Kendall also hit well for the Mariners (3-3).

For the Cards, who scored six in the third to go ahead 9-2, Harrison Penrose had a double and RBI, Justin Schuster and Josh Brunsman a single and RBI, and Chad Sheppards, Cliff Meyer and Adam Reed singles.

Auburn Yankees 11, Colfax Mariners 8: Justin DeGraaf pitched a strong game for the Auburn Hardwood Yankees, holding the Mariners to two runs after his team went up 11-6 in the fourth, and helped his cause with two triples and a pair of RBIs at the plate.

Luke Danielewicz and Kevin Healy each went 3-for-4, the former getting a double and RBI and the latter two doubles and four RBIs. Rich Herrera was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Curtis Hall had a hit and RBI and Chris Bendana singled and scored.

The Mariners’ Justin Anglade had two hits and two RBIs, Kendall two hits, Michael Olsen a double and Andrew Klein a single.

Auburn Yankees 12, Colfax Cardinals 6: Jeff Mason and DeGraaf had two hits and two RBIs, Healy had a homer, single and two RBIs, Danielewicz was 2-for-3 with a double, sacrifice fly and RBI. Mike Kuchenthal went 2-for-3. Max Stapenhorst added a hit and RBI.

The Cardinals got two singles from Donnie Gauldin, a hit and RBI from both Kevin Kleppee and Chris Halsey.

Auburn Yanks 8, Rangers 1: Danielewicz pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts and helped his cause by going 3-for-4. Stapenhorst had a hit and RBI, and Kuchenthal and Herrera also had singles. The Rangers’ Steven Beck was 2-for-3 with the RBI, Mason Gray singled, Steven French scored.

Auburn Giants 12, Auburn A’s 1: Ronnie Davidson bashed a two-run homer, a triple and an RBI single to lead the Booker Accountancy Giants. Michael Booker had a triple, single and three RBIs, Scott Ball doubled, Adam Atiles singled and Ty Mowry tripled.

For the A’s, Joe Tejeda, Josh Bosco and Sol Brocker singled and Jacob Albright scored.

Auburn Rangers 8, Auburn Phillies 1: Joe Trone, Beck and Franch went 3-for-4, and Chris Guild singled and had three RBIs for the Rangers. For the Phillies, Sean Boyte went 3-for-3, and Michael Ensley and Jake Arnold singled once apice.
